Dr. Victoria Spangler is an Associate Professor of Theatre at Hardin Simmons University, where she has been adjunct professor off and on for the past twenty years. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Spangler was the Executive Director of Young Audiences of Abilene, an art in education organization responsible for placing professional performing artists into the public schools.

She received her Bachelor of Arts in theatre from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. She earned her Masters of Arts in Theatre from Texas A&M Commerce. She taught high school drama for six years before beginning work on her doctorate in theatre at Texas Tech. Dr. Spangler’s dissertation topic was “Teen Theatre: A Model for Addressing Risk Issues in Adolescents.” That paved the way for her position as a Safe and Drug Free Schools Consultant at Region 14 in Texas, a position that she enjoyed for 17 years, managing and directing a 6-member theatre troupe who wrote and performed original programs focusing on healthy choices for teens.

Dr. Spangler has also been a theatre professor at Cisco College and McMurry University. Her areas of expertise are acting, directing, management, and educational theatre.  Dr. Spangler devotes her personal time to her home and mostly, to her teenage daughters Jade and Jia.
